Root of David

Jesus Christ is the Son of man. His earthly father was Joseph as recorded in Matthew 1:1-16 “1.A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham……16. and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.” Because Jesse was the father of David, Jesus Christ can also be the son of Jesse by genealogy. He was the Son of man.
NIV Isaiah 11:1-5 supports this truth;
1A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
2The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of power,
the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord
3and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.
He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,
or decide by what he hears with his ears;
4but with righteousness he will judge the needy,
with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.
He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth;
with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.
5Righteousness will be his belt
and faithfulness the sash around his waist.
At the same time, the Bible tells us that He is the Son of God by the Spirit of God. The expression of “Son of God” carries the meaning of “God the Son”, the second Person of Triune God. He is the Creator of all things including humanity. He is the Root of David by essence, The root makes the branch bear fruit.
NIV Revelation 5:5 reveals this truth;
Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals."
Christianity is based on this Biblical truth; Jesus Christ is the Son of man, like us and the Son of God unlike us. He is the perfect Mediator between God and man. He is both our Friend and Father who gave His life to His children, you and me. Praise God for giving His own Son Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Amen!
