A Philippine official said Monday (September
24, 2012) that a legendary collection of
shoes and other possessions left behind by former first lady Imelda Marcos and
her dictator husband have no historical significance, except for some
Philippine-made gowns.
Imelda
Marcos left behind at least 1,220
pairs of shoes (wow!), along with a vast collection of clothes and
accessories, when she fled to the U.S. with her husband, President Ferdinand
Marcos, during a 1986 uprising.
I have about 6 pairs of shoes in shoe rack. I thought
about what kind of shoes we Christians need to put on.
There is always an answer found in the Word of God
that I meditate on every day: Shoes of Good News.
We read in, Ephesians 6:15;
“For
shoes, put on the
peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.”
Isaiah 52:7;
“How
beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring
good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!””
Romans 10:15;
“And
how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are
the feet of those
who bring good news!””
What is the Good News to us? That’s the Gospel of
Peace proclaiming, “Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ is coming and He reigns!”
Revelation 22:20-21
“He
who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen.
Come, Lord Jesus.
The
grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.”
