An old man in Northern India had a son and he became the oldest dad in the world. When I saw the news, immediately it reminded me of Abraham who had his son Isaac when he was 100 years old.
We read in, Genesis 21:2, 4;
“Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him…. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.”
What is the important truth about the birth of Isaac to Abraham that Jehovah promised him?
God chose Abraham to be the father of many nations.
“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping--believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, "That's how many descendants you will have!” (Romans 4:18)
How can Abraham become the father of many nations? I think no country recognize Abraham to be the father of its nation except the nation of Israel. Israel doesn’t have such a huge population.
The only way for God’s promise to be fulfilled is through Abraham’s Seed, his genealogical descendant, Jesus Christ. Through Him, the descendants of Abraham came as many as stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore.
We read in, Hebrews 11:12;
“And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.”
You might think I am allegorizing everything to support my interpretation on this verse but let’s go to God’s Word in Galatians 3:16 to know Who truly the Seed was.
“The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his Seed. The Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your Seed," meaning One Person, Who is Christ.”
Having said so - Jesus was the Seed of Abraham in genealogy in the Gospel of Matthew, we should know the Origin of Christ;
Even though Jesus Christ was the Seed of Abraham Who fulfilled God’s promise to Abraham. He was the Son of God Who has existed before Abraham was.
We read in, John 8:58;
“I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!”
Lord Jesus, You came as the Promised Seed of Abraham (son of man), You are truly the Son of Eternal God. We love You with all our mind and soul. Amen.
