Answer: Because He wants us to forgive others their sins.
I feel guilty in my conscience every time when I recite the Lord’s Prayer; especially in the highlighted verse.
"Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one."
Because I know the Lord’s Sermon on the Mount clearly telling us in Matthew 6:15;
“But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
Did I truly forgive my debtor(s) as I was forgiven all my debts ???
We also read in, Ephesians 4:32
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Lord Jesus, teach us first to know; Do I need to forgive others for their wrongdoings to me?
Do I need to be forgiven for my wrongdoings to others?
Then teach us to carry out what You have told us to do, whichever it might be the case. Amen!
