Lightweight Answers for Heavyweight Questions-5

Today’s question is; “Why did the Son of God die on the cross?”

The simplest answer is:

“In God’s holy mind, the sin is not tolerable and it must be punished by His justice.  The wages of sin must be paid by death as like the human judicial system allows the execution of capital punishment. For human, life is blood. Shedding the blood results in a physical death.

In His mercy, Holy God allowed the sinners to shed the animal’s blood rather than shedding their own blood in the Old Testament times. Problem is it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins forever and completely. (Hebrews 10:4)

That’s the reason why Christ came and died on the cross.

We read in, Hebrews 10:5-7;

“Therefore, when Christ came into the world, He said:

“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,

but a body You prepared for Me;

 with burnt offerings and sin offerings

You were not pleased.

 Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about Me in the scroll—

I have come to do Your will, O God.””

We also read in, Matthew 26:28;

“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

Thank You Lord Jesus for dying on the cross for the sinner like me. I will praise You forever from here and to eternity. Amen.
