The Name “J-E-S-U-S”

Why does God the Father give His Son the Name J-E-S-U-S?
We read in Matthew 1:21;
“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the Name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”
It’s because God the Father wants to send His Own Son into the world in His Own name.
And in John 5:43;
I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.
Let’s look into the Name Jehovah and the Name Jesus. The Name of God in the Old Testament was known as “Tetragrammaton” which means in Greek  “four word letter  יהוה(Y-H-W(V)-H) .  There were no vowel signs to read God’s Name in those days, we can pronounce Y_E_H_O_V_A_H, Y-A-H-W-A-H or even Y-A-H-W-E-H.
When Jesus said, “I have come in My Father’s Name” He told us that He and Jehovah God shared the same Name יהוה.
Let me prove it. The English Name JESUS is the Greek transliteration Ἰησοῦς (Iēsous) *jesu-os which came from the Aramaic word, Yeshua, or Yehoshua, the Name of Jesus.
Yeshua (ישוע, with vowel pointing יֵשׁוּעַ - yēšūă‘ in Hebrew) was a common alternative form of the name יְהוֹשֻׁעַ ("Yehoshuah" - Joshua)
Then what does the Name Yeshua (ישוע) or Yehoshua (יְהוֹשֻׁעַ) mean?
We can find the answer in Matthew 1:21 and it means, “Jehovah Saves”
Most of the time, Hebrew names stand for what they do for God’s mission for example, Abraham, Moses, Joshua etc.
The Name JESUS stands for what the Savior did for us;
“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the Name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.
Thank You Jesus for saving us from our sins and making us the children of our Heavenly Father. Amen and amen.
