Dream Dreams

Last night, I dreamed a dream about traveling with my family. We did not make to the airport on time because we could not catch a taxi, weird people we met on the street etc. I don’t want to dream such a dream in the night; rather I want to dream a dream about something holy, for example, scenes of our Lord’s Glorious Return to earth as the King of kings.

What is the  mechanism of dreaming in the brain? Why do people dream a dream? I don’t know well medically and psychologically, but I know some facts about the dream in the Bible.

Before the Son of God came, God revealed Himself to His people in visions and dreams.

Hebrews 1:1-2

“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, Whom He appointed heir of all things, and through Whom He made the universe.”

Numbers 12:6

“And the LORD said to them, “Now listen to what I say: If there were prophets among you, I, the LORD, would reveal Myself in visions. I would speak to them in dreams””.

But the false prophets misused this by telling people false dreams and leading them astray.

Jeremiah 23:32

“Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” declares the LORD. “They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least," declares the LORD.”

In the last days, the Holy Spirit makes us dream dreams. The “last days” as related to the Church began with the Advent of Christ. (Hebrews 1:2)

Acts 2:17

“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

Lord Jesus, I oftentimes dream dreams of the worldly things rather than dreaming of a pure and holy dream that I wish to dream.

Please let me dream a holy dream, such as “Your Coming in Glory and Majesty of God” or “transformation of our lowly bodies into the glorious body” etc. Amen.
