He's a vegetarian, drives a 1987 VW Beetle, and runs a flower farm. Did we mention he's also the ruler of Uruguay? Jose Mujica is known as the world's 'poorest' president. He chooses to give 90% of his monthly salary—about $12,000—to charities supporting the poor and small businesses, reports the BBC. “If you don't have many possessions then you don't need to work all your life like a slave to sustain them, and therefore you have more time for yourself,” he explains.
When I read this news article, I thought about the King of the Universe Who gave us His Life and lived a life of poverty. He is Jesus, the Son of God.
We read in, 2 Corinthians 8:9;
“For you know the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.”
Now He sits at the Right Hand of God (= Power Position) Who has all Authority in Heaven and Earth. He even declares, “The silver is mine and the gold is mine.”
If you live an affluent life, thank God thinking that “through His poverty you became rich.” Share what you have with less privileged people around you.
If you undergo a difficult life, think that “our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
