God Sings

We, Christians praise Jesus with songs and hymns to thank Him for His saving grace. We know the Heavenly creature, seraphs sing day and night before the Throne, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, Who was, and is, and is to come.

But have you ever heard that God sings? You might have not, but the Bible says He does.

We read in, Zephaniah 3:17;

“The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.

יָגִ֥יל עָלַ֖יִךְ בְּרִנָּֽה׃ yā·ḡîl ‘ā·la·yiḵ bə·rin·nāh  Literally, “Jehovah will be glad over you with a joyful shouting.”

We also read in, Isaiah 62:5;

“As as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you”.

Isaiah 62:4

“Never again will you be called “The Forsaken City” or “The Desolate Land.” Your new name will be “The City of God's Delight” and “The Bride of God,” for the LORD delights in you and will claim you as His bride.””

חֶפְצִי־בָ֔הּ ḥep̄·ṣî-ḇāh My(Jehovah’s) delight is in her

בְּעוּלָ֑ה bə·‘ū·lāh; married

This kind of intimate relationship with God is ultimately found in Christ, the Lord God of His church and His people. Christ is Immanuel, God with us and He stands in the relation of a bridegroom to us and in the relation of a bride to Him. He rejoices over us with exceeding great joy, and that to do us good; so He rejoiced over us from all eternity, and so He does in time, in redemption: this was the joy set before Him, which let Him to bear the cross, and despise the shame of it, so that we would be redeemed, and saved by Him, and brought to His glory.
