Are we busy building our own kingdom or God’s Kingdom?
Anyone who builds own kingdom actually serves in folly - fame, money, dreams, desires,
pleasures, relationships etc. Unless we surrender all of these and seek first His
Kingdom and Righteousness, we may shipwreck in faith because we cannot serve two
masters, both God and wealth.
We need to be wise enough. If we seek His Kingdom
and Righteousness, we can have all things we want. You know why?
Because Jesus says in Matthew 6:33;
“But seek first His Kingdom and His
Righteousness, and
all these things will be given to you as well.”
Greek Text:
ζητεῖτε δὲ πρῶτον τὴν βασιλείαν καὶ τὴν δικαιοσύνην αὐτοῦ.
βασιλεία basileía
(basileús, “king”) – properly, kingdom; the realm in which a king
sovereignly rules. A kingdom always requires a king – as the
kingdom of God does with King Jesus. It especially refers to the rule of Christ in
believers’ hearts – which is a rule that “one day will be universal on the physical
earth in the Millennium.”
Δικαιοσύνη
dikaiosýnē (“divine approval”) is the
regular New Testament term used for righteousness (“God's judicial approval”). It
refers to what is deemed right by the Lord (after His examination), i.e. what
is right in His eyes.
The righteousness of God, which is revealed in the
Gospel, and is what gives a right and title to the Kingdom of heaven. This is
not the righteousness of man, but of God; and is no other than the righteousness
of Christ. Because He is God Who has wrought it; it is what God approves of,
accepts, and imputes, and which only can justify in His sight. Christ's
righteousness is to be sought for, that is the Forgiveness of sins in His name.
Without this, there will be no entering
into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Lord Jesus, You are our Master and King. Let us love
and serve You more than anything else.
Amen.
