Shipwreck of Faith

FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. -- A Valley pastor is under arrest for allegedly dealing drugs.
Deputies arrested Mark Derksen of Fountain Hills, and say he was selling heroin, meth and prescription drugs to people of all ages. As a pastor, Derksen, 63, worked with youth groups and senior citizens.  Derksen also reportedly told deputies the drugs were bringing clients 'closer to God.' Derksen has been booked on a variety of drug charges.

Why do these weird things happen in the Christian community?

I have no clear-cut answer for that question but it’s no wonder for us to see those things happening because the apostle Paul has already warned us in his epistles.

He says in 1Timothy 4:1;

 “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.”

And in 1Timothy 1:19;

“Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.

He further says in, 2 Timothy 3:1-5;

Godlessness in the Last Days

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.  People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,    without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God - having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.”
